Why I Participate:
This is my second year riding in Padres Pedal the Cause. This time things are very different: My dear friend and riding partner Debra Jackson, who has been involved with Padres Pedal since 2013, was in a serious cycling accident in April and will not be able to ride this year. She has a long and hard recovery period ahead of her, and one thing I can do for her is raise funds for this cause, which is so dear to her heart. My goal is to raise at least $2,000 because she would raise at least that if she could ride.
So, on November 16, I will ride my bike on the strenuous 88-mile course, the Honey Springs Heartbreaker route, to support cancer research and to honor those who have won and lost their battle with cancer. Many of you know I love riding, but that doesn't mean it's easy for me. I will pedal hard and long those hills, rain or shine. All the while, I'll be thinking about Debra and the many people that have been touched by cancer. I'll be thinking about their courage and strength.
One hundred percent of the money I raise will stay locally to benefit those in need, here San Diego. I'm committed and honored to do what I can to make cancer go away in Debra's name.
Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride.
