Why I Ride:
We are unbelievably lucky to have leading cancer research being done every day in our hometown, but the researchers need funding to execute their brilliant ideas and save lives. That is where Padres Pedal comes in. The event is 100 percent underwritten so every dollar raised supports the genius ideas that we need to continue to find new treatments and cures. Unfortunately, national funding continues to be cut and the scientists need our help.
Pedal offers our community the opportunity to grieve, to fight, to support, to build awareness and to cure cancer patients. Almost 20 grants have been funded in San Diego since Pedal's inception and the magnitude of these studies and their progress are seven-fold. That means San Diego is getting national attention for the success of our ideas which results in seven times more money to work with and develop treatments further.
I am participating in the 5th Pedal the Cause San Diego cycling fundraiser on November 11th and 12th. I will ride 46 miles to raise money to fund the best research ideas at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, Salk Cancer Center, Sanford-Burnham Prebys Medical Research Institute and Rady's Childrens Hospital.
Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride. I have committed to raise $10,000. As Bills Angels team captain, I am proud to say that our team alone has raised $600,000. Join us, volunteer or make any sized donation.
The world is before you, and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came in.
